“How To Read A Crystal Ball” Workshop / Class
There’s nothing more iconic in the realm of divination than the image of a fortune teller gazing deeply into a crystal ball. However, many mysteries, myths, and superstitions surround this ancient practice. Do you have to be “psychic” to read a crystal ball? Can you really see the future in one? Is it just a parlor trick? Does the ball need to be made of a special kind of material? All of these questions and more will be answered in this unique workshop. Your facilitators will relate some history regarding the art of scrying and crystal gazing, debunk a few of the common misconceptions, offer information about the various types of spheres that can be used, and introduce multiple methods of obtaining a reading from a crystal ball. Without the use of cold reading systems or magic tricks, attendees will get hands-on practice during a genuine reading exercise and have a chance to purchase their very own crystal ball. Participants will also receive a handmade zine featuring content from the class. No previous experience is required, only an open mind!
About the facilitators:
Kristen Kaniewski is an artist, the daughter of an honest-to-goodness shaman, and an enthusiastic finder of lucky pennies. She once ate a dinosaur bone (which may explain her current “taste” for the bizarre).
Ethan Schleeter is an artist and divination fanatic who can tell your fortune and mystify you with a magic trick using the same deck of cards. You may have spotted him behind the counter at Magic Inc.
Together they’ve taught classes and facilitated divination-related groups in Chicago.
