In 1916, the same year this was published, The Boston Globe dubbed Provincetown the “biggest art colony in the world,” as painters, poets and playwrights like Eugene O’Neill flocked to this welcoming seaside enclave. Art schools and galleries flourished, annual exhibitions become a staple of the summer social calendar, and arts associations and clubs gathered rosters of talent from across the globe. This is an early cookbook for Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod, with recipes contributed by the congregants of the Centenary M.E. Church, including corn relish, crab apple sweet pickle, blueberry pie, corn fritters, cranberry pie, fried clams, new fangled fish chowder, sea clam pie, fish muddle, clam fritters, etc. Ads for theaters and other businesses in front and rear.
